Orion is proud to announce Porter-Leath as the June focus of our Orion Gives Back program.

Since its founding, Porter-Leath has remained passionately committed to serving at-risk children and families in Memphis. While both its name and mission have evolved with changing times and events, the focus has always been to serve Memphis’ most vulnerable citizens. Whether they are affected financially, emotionally or socially,  Porter-Leath remains strong,  serving as a safety net when possibilities for a brighter future may look dim. While the future brings more change, one certainty remains:  Porter-Leath will continue to provide the needed social services to at-risk children and families in Memphis and advancing the mission of its stalwart founders over 160 years ago.

Donate Money: Donate over the phone, by mail or online and help to empower the children and families of Memphis that wouldn’t be able to achieve a healthy, independent lifestyle without your help.

Meeting the needs of children and families at all stages of life by focusing on forming solid foundations through six focus areas, Porter-Leath now serves over 10,000 children and families every year. The depth of services offered is constantly expanding and being enhanced to give at-risk families the best possible care.

Head Start: Porter-Leath offers a top-quality pre-school education for some of the highest risk children in Shelby county, plus support for their families, free of charge.

Connections: Porter-Leath brings children together with families and caregivers in a stable, nurturing environment.

Cornerstone: Porter-Leath meets the needs of pregnant and parenting families in their homes to give preschool children the best start in life, regardless of circumstances.

CareerPlace: Porter-Leath empowers parents through skills training and meaningful work experiences to achieve financial independence and provide for their families.

Generations: Porter-Leath provides low-income seniors an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults.

Spoonfuls: Porter-Leath ensures nutritious meals and snacks are served to children in family day homes that serve low-income communities.
