The July 2015 focus of Orion Gives back is Volunteer Odyssey.
Volunteer Odyssey provides a unique service to the Memphis community: they connect people who are between jobs with their ideal volunteer experience and give them a platform to document and tell their volunteer story. Job seekers are sent on a week-long “odyssey” of local non-profits that best match their talents, ambitions and concerns, and blog the entire week on their experience.
Founder Sarah Petschonek developed this and other programs to lend a helping hand to volunteers, as much as to the organizations they serve. Through Volunteer Odyssey, nonprofits get the help they need and volunteers reap personal and professional rewards – from meeting new people, to learning new skills or honing existing ones, to boosting creativity. It’s an all-around win that we’re proud to support!
