Lending Clean Memphis a Helping Hand

Volunteering is always a rewarding experience – but it’s especially uplifting to witness crowds of people, cheerful in spite of uncomfortable temperatures and a dirty task, working to make things better for their neighbors and their city.

And that’s just what we got to see yesterday by taking part in Clean Memphis’ 7th annual Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  In partnership with Memphis Clean by 2019 and Leadership Memphis, Clean Memphis recruited thousands for a City-Wide Clean-Up in honor of what would have been King’s 87th birthday.

Troupes of volunteers worked nine different communities to pick up trash and help get rid of blight.  Orion’s group worked the Binghampton neighborhood, starting from East High School, down Tillman and through Howze Park.

Memphis is shining a little brighter today, and we’re proud we got to help!
