Each year, LeBonheur’s Nursing Department conducts a cereal drive to help fill the shelves of the Mid-South Food Bank during the summer months. As their new neighbor and sponsor of their Safe Kids program, we’re always happy to answer their call for help on special projects like this! So we’re lending them a hand in the drive, and have donation boxes set out in each of our 10 branches. Help us fill them by bringing in boxes of cereal or any non-perishable food item that the food bank can use. The drive will run now through June 2nd.
This is an opportunity to feed children during the summer months when school is not in session. The impact of this community project is invaluable in the fight against childhood hunger. A large percentage of children in the Mid-South receive free and reduced priced school meals. For many of these children, breakfast and lunch at school are the only meals on which they can rely. This Cereal Drive will allow the Mid-South Food Bank to distribute large quantities and choices of breakfast items through their partners to children during the summer. Partners include daycares and summer programs. – LeBonheur Nursing Department
