Our employees consistently delight us with their stories of community involvement – and when we hear one with a fun new spin on things, we can’t help but share it! Here’s a great one from our Human Resources Manager, Verity Goodell.

“I’ve wanted to find a specific local nonprofit to volunteer with on a regular basis,” Verity told us.  “I heard about Volunteer Odyssey and their  Voluncheers Program through friends, one of whom was on the organizing committee.   It seemed like a great opportunity to get to know different nonprofits and learn how to get involved.”

She attended a Minute Match event – a kind of speed-dating to find your perfect volunteer “match” – and loved it.  “The concept was a lot of fun and encouraged everyone to follow up in a meaningful way.”

Did she find what she was looking for?

“I chose Carpenter Art Garden, which I initially learned about through Orion Gives Back.  It incorporates biking, art and working with children; all things I love”.
